There is something to be said for the All-American Alaskan look. If you want to live in Alaska, you are going to need the proper Alaskan Attire. I came from California with two t-shirts and my cycling gear. That was ok in the middle of the summer, but things change quickly in Alaska. When you live in Alaska you are going to need rugged footwear.
An American Shoe for the Alaskan
What does that mean. Street shoes and men’s loafers do not sell well in Alaska. There is not much use for them. Cowboy boots will work in certain instances, but you are going to need rugged outdoor clothing even if you work indoors. It is the norm here to wear hiking boots, extra toughs, or work boots. You can wear your tennis shoes to the gym, but for everyday wear, you want boots.
Buying Boots Alaskan Style
I bought new boots today. After 18 years my steel toe Timberland boots finally died. It was time for a new pair of work boots. I looked for a replacement pair but in Alaska the selection is limited, but what is out there works. Why? Because nobody would buy a pair of shoes twice if they fell apart after wearing them a couple of months.
