One of the Signs I saw Offering Jobs July 2021

I arrived in Alaska on July 9th, 2021. I got a job in Alaska on July 10th and then a second job on July 12th. So, it took me three days to get two jobs. You might ask what took me so long, which would be a good question. I could have ten jobs in two weeks if I had a human cloning device. There are lots of jobs in Alaska. If you are willing to work hard and show up on time, there will always be a job for you in Alaska.

Remember nothing is easy if you live in Alaska. You can make a lot of money at the job, but you can expect to work long hours and incur a degree of danger with a higher paying job. I could have a job on a fishing boat. I could have a job at a fish packing plant. I could join a construction crew. My background is in Accounting and Finance, so those jobs did not appeal to me. They were still offered to me, but I chose a job with the State of Alaska instead. Not as much pay as the fisherman or the contractor but safer and excellent benefits were more important to me.

I arrived in the summer and there were Help Wanted signs in the windows of restaurants, cafes, retail shops, and well just about every business. Alaska is seasonal. The whole state is seasonal. There is no way to sugarcoat that Alaska’s winters are harsh and long. The state has a thriving tourist trade, but only in the Spring and Summer.
