The Coming of Spring
Give Me Light
I moved to Alaska last summer. It got light at 4 am and dark after midnight I was alive with energy and passion. Everything was new and exciting; I had a million and one things to do. Moving to a new town with a new job, new apartment, new friends, and acquaintances is work and requires motivation and energy. If you move to Alaska in the summertime, you will find the extra energy with extra hours of light.
The Natural High
I did not notice the change at first. I merely responded to the extra hours of light in the way that most newcomers do. It consumes you with energy that you never knew you had. It is like a shot of B12 with some extra adrenaline that nature provides free every day. For the uninitiated I highly recommend this natural high. It is addictive so be careful in consumption.
The Winter Crash
The Winter Crash can be devastating after the Summer High. The Fall brings on the doom and gloom of darkness. Each day gets shorter and shorter and then daylight savings time hits. Suddenly it is dark at 3pm. I authored an article…
