The Weather Report

I just watched the Weather Report for Alaska. It is going to be seventy-five below zero with wind chill in Alaska today. I like to tell my friends this because it is true. I moved here from California last year and I tell my friends this news with a straight face. The part that they forget is that Alaska is a Huge State. I live in Alaska, but I am 1,500 miles due south of Deadhorse, Prudhoe Bay, Alaska.

Seventy — Five Below Zero

I am not lying; it is going to be 75 degrees below zero in Prudhoe Bay. That is in Alaska, so it is not a lie. I live in Ketchikan; Alaska and it is 43 degrees right now. The high today is predicted to be 45 degrees and the low 38 degrees. Still a little cold for a t-shirt but for long term residents that is t-shirt weather.

I love the State of Alaska, but the state is so big that from one side to the other there is a 100-degree temperature difference. Today it is even more so. From seventy-five below zero to forty-three degrees above zero is a 118-degree differential. I do not think any other state can boast of such a change. But then again what state would want to advertise that as a selling point. We do things a little bit different here, so this is something to be proud about in Alaska. From the balmy island of Ketchikan, Alaska with love.
